Safe management of drugs a step closer for UK ambulances

Safe and efficient drug management is now only a click away for ambulance services in the UK. Ortivus and Healthcare Software’s Controlled Drugs Management solution (CDM) is now available on the UK government’s digital marketplace – G-Cloud

With CDM available on the G-Cloud online procurement framework, ambulance services can now access the solution faster, cheaper, and more efficiently. The aim of G-Cloud is to drive the wider adoption of cloud computing in the public sector by providing a more competitive and effective way of buying IT services.

Ortivus has had its electronic patient care record solution, MobiMed ePR, available on the G-Cloud digital marketplace since 2015 and is excited to partner with Healthcare Software to bring their award-winning drug management system to even more UK ambulances.

CDM delivers complete management of controlled drugs for ambulance services. It includes full end-to-end controlled drug management and reporting, incident management, and issue escalation amongst other features.

The solution provides a comprehensive suite of automated processes, functions and integrations to seamlessly manage and report on medication-related distribution and administrative activities.

It is deployed as a software as a service solution for access at any time through the browser of any device. It is highly scalable and meets the needs of both organisations and indivudual users.

The benefits of using CDM include:

  • Having confidence in the safe and efficient management of controlled drugs
  • Governance and regulatory compliance
  • Significantly reduced risk of medication misuse and theft
  • Elimination of paper-based systems
  • Trackable and recorded information logged for reconciliation and audit reporting

Elias Obaid, Global Sales Manager Ortivus, said:“We’re thrilled to partner with Healthcare Software to bring the Controlled Drugs Management (CDM) solution to UK ambulances via G-Cloud. This step improves safety, efficiency, and compliance in drug management, while eliminating the risks of paper-based systems and simplifying the procurement process.”

Richard Metcalfe, CEO Healthcare Software, said: “We’ve seen a distinct increase in interest in improving medication safety and quality in the UK. The replacement of legacy paper registers with a contemporary digital solution is a great way for services to improve their CQC ratings for medication safety and management.  Ortivus is as committed to this cause as HCS, and our solid partnership means CDM is now available for UK emergency ambulance services to leverage the significant benefits enjoyed by several services in Australia.”
